Thanks for stopping by my new site and welcome to vetequipment.ca!

Some background on who I am might be useful.  I graduated from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in 2000, so I’ve been a vet for a decade now!  As a veterinarian, I’ve designed and built three veterinary hospitals in Calgary, Alberta.  Finding equipment for all of these practices could have been really expensive, especially the high-end medical and surgical items we all want to use.  The biggest roadblock to being able to use the best equipment is price.  There are lots of vendors out there that love to sell us equipment, usually talking us into leasing as a better way to ‘afford’ what we want.  Trouble is, leasing usually ends up costing a whole bunch more in the end, better for the leasing company, not so good for us.

A few years ago I decided to look in the USA for some good used equipment.  I ended up finding some vet practices that were having trouble making ends meet and were selling everything, and I mean everything!  I didn’t have a choice of what pieces to take, I had to take the entire clinic.  Everything from digital xray machines, lasers, surgical suites, dental suites, even a fancy tag engraving machine!  After flying all over the USA, packaging up entire vet practices, driving large trucks thousands of miles, and clearing border customs, I now have much more equipment that I can use in my practice.  (as a sidenote, I’ve sold my first two practices, my third one opened in October 2009 and is very, very well equipped!)

I decided to market this extra equipment to vets in Canada, because we really have no other option for top quality, used veterinary equipment.  And this isn’t old beat up stuff, I wouldn’t bother going through all the hassles to bring back junk.  The vast majority of the equipment I have is less than 3 years old, and most is virtually brand new.  You’ll see this in the pictures I’ve provided, along with serial numbers and descriptions of every item.  I want to help Canadian veterinary practices add full in-clinic blood labs to allow them to grow their pre-anesthetic testing, and allow another practice to incorporate laser surgery, and upgrade a surgery suite with state of the art ceiling mount lighting, all for less than half the price of new.  The great thing is, most of this equipment really is basically brand new!  I’m not sure if there are warranties, unless the manufacturer provides a longer warranty, but then most of these items only come with a one year warranty anyway!  I’d gladly pay less than half the price of new for an 18 month old blood lab system that would’ve cost over 40K new!

I hope you find this site useful.  I’ve become very good at searching out great values for my practices.  I hope you see the values being offered here are some of the best you’ll find anywhere.  I haven’t spent thousands on a flashy website.  I don’t have a secretary, although my wife said she’d answer the phone if I’m working at my practice!  I’m just another veterinarian, like you, trying to use the best equipment made, at the best price possible.  Again, thanks for visiting my site,
